繼令人驚豔的流行歌曲Shake It Off之後，稍早Taylor Swift (泰勒絲)宣布新專輯1989第二支主打單曲為Out of the Woods。Swift表示Out of the Woods是新專輯裡面她最喜歡的歌之一，因為這首歌最能代表整張專輯。
Out of the Woods是Taylor Swift和Jack Antonoff 共同寫出來的，音樂型態受到80年代流行樂的影響，創作靈感推測來自Swift前男友One Direction的成員Harry Styles。
依Taylor Swift自己的說法，Out of the Woods是在描述一段破碎的關係，歌詞內容也確實有些感傷，更讓外界把這首歌跟Harry Styles連結在一起。
