[西洋老歌] Tears For Fears-Everybody Wants To Rule The World @ Xavier 元創主義

來介紹個老團的經典歌曲吧！說到80年代走紅的英國雙人組合Tears For Fears(驚懼之淚，成員為Roland Orzabal和Curt Smith)，就不得不說一下由Curt Smith演唱的Everybody Wants To Rule The World(來自專輯Songs From The Big Chair)，這首歌可說是Tears For Fears歷年作品裡經典中的經典(另一首指標性歌曲是Shou)，也是先前國內體育台球賽轉撥的背景歌曲之一。

Everybody Wants To Rule The World這首歌已經有超過20年的歷史，也是Tears For Fears所有的歌裡我最喜歡的一首，發行的時候我還沒出生，但10多年後當我聽到這首歌卻覺得相當震撼和喜歡，Curt的磁性又帶點低沉的嗓音，加上KB，和頗長的吉他solo，就是這樣吸引著我。

歌詞提到對人生的抱負和主宰，也相當特別。

這首歌原本是叫做Everybody Wants to Go to War，後來改成Everybody Wants To Rule The World，在當年留下相當多輝煌的紀錄，1985年在Billboard Hot 100拿到冠軍，並在榜首持續待了兩週(在Hot Dance Singles也拿到冠軍)，在英國單曲榜則是拿到了Tears For Fears歷年所有發行單曲裡最高的第二名，稍後在1986年獲選為全英音樂獎的Best Single。

而Songs From The Big Chair也是Tears For Fears銷售最成功的一張專輯，在全球一共賣了1000萬張。

當然，除了Everybody Wants To Rule The World這首經典中的經典外，Tears For Fears還有不少讓我有所觸動的好歌，像是Break It Down Again、Head Over Heels、Mad World、Shou、Sowing The Seed Of Love和Women In Chains等，都是Tears For Fears的代表性作品。Mad World更是僅次於Everybody Wants To Rule The World外，最讓我有感覺的一首歌。
