說到英國歌手James Blunt，相信大多數的人第一個念頭，都會直覺想到You Are Beautiful(美麗的妳)這首歌吧！這首歌是收錄在Blunt 2004年的專輯Back to Bedlamxu不安於室裡，作為專輯裡的第3支單曲。
當初這首歌在許多音樂榜大舉攻城掠地，在包括英、美在內的許多國家單曲榜拿到冠軍，James Blunt還被喻為近十年來第一位能引領Billboard Hot 100的英國歌手(Elton John的Candle in the Wind在97年也曾引起類似的效應)。連帶的專輯狂銷熱賣，讓James Blunt瞬間爆紅。
聽到這首歌，先不看歌詞、不探討歌詞背後意境，光看歌名就好，你想到什麼？相信多數的男孩子會想到:”是在描寫一個很漂亮的女孩子吧？”那到底這首歌是為什麼而寫？靈感來自哪裡？當初也是個引發許多討論的話題了，媒體也紛紛做出許多猜測。
針對這個疑問，Blunt在06年在節目接受訪問時，終於做了這樣的回答:” It's kind of miserable. It was about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the Underground in London with her new man, who I didn't know existed. She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but didn't do anything about it and haven't seen each other since.”
據訪談內容，顯然的，這首歌創作的情感和動力來源，是來自和他前任女友的偶遇！歌詞內容也和他當時描素的情景相當吻合。
這首歌也讓我想到了一種無力下的美麗！人生旅途裡，許多美好的景象，在面前閃過的時候，距離是如此近，卻又總是如此的消縱即逝、遙不可及和不真實。就像是場夢一樣，也許它永遠不會實現，但印入腦海的一刻，縱使只有短短數秒，那樣的美好卻依舊是令人難忘和開心的……
